Australian Partners of Defence (APOD) is a for-purpose Australian organisation founded in 2012 by veteran families, for veteran families. Since then, APOD has grown into Australia’s largest veteran support organisation, focused on improving the financial wellbeing of the Defence community through access to exclusive discounts, employment and volunteering support, veteran-owned businesses, and curated information relevant to military families.

With more than 3,600 business partners and over 5,300 exclusive benefits, APOD supports serving and former ADF members, reservists, allied forces, and their immediate families across Australia.

APOD’s mission has remained constant: to support the financial wellbeing of the Defence community by improving access to benefits that directly assist them. Their secure digital platform and app connect over 190,000 registered members with tailored savings and opportunities.

Beyond discounts on everyday essentials like groceries, fuel and retail, APOD provides targeted job listings and employment support built around the unique needs of military families. This includes pathways for veterans, partners and spouses to find meaningful work and contribute to their communities.

Financial empowerment is intrinsic to APOD’s ethos. In recent years, APOD members have saved millions of dollars, underscoring its tangible economic and social impact. As a proudly Australian initiative, APOD stands apart by recognising the sacrifice of Defence families and providing practical, everyday support that eases the pressures of service life and helps build financial independence.

APOD proudly champions the employment of veterans and their partners through a range of initiatives, partnerships, and targeted advocacy. Founded by a Defence spouse, APOD’s mission is deeply rooted in supporting the wellbeing of the veteran community – with employment a core pillar of that mission.

Recognising that not enough was being done to drive system-wide and national change in veteran and partner employment, APOD led from the front – designing and building a solution to meet the needs of the community they serve.

APOD has developed a national digital platform that not only delivers access to financial benefits and wellbeing support but also provides purpose-built tools to improve employment outcomes. APOD has created and embedded a free, national jobs board within our app, giving veterans, partners and families direct access to meaningful employment opportunities. Uniquely, this platform connects employers with a highly engaged community of more than 190,000 members – making job placement both efficient and highly targeted.

Working closely with employers, APOD shapes veteran-supportive recruitment practices, promotes roles via trusted channels, and educates businesses on the strengths of veteran and partner talent. They also engage across digital and community networks to raise awareness and ensure visibility of these opportunities where they’re needed most.

What sets APOD apart is that they live the values they promote. They actively employ veterans and Defence partners within their own team – embedding lived experience, empathy and insight into everything they do.
