2026 nominee - Champion of Veteran Employment

The RSL Employment Program, delivered in partnership between RSL LifeCare and RSL Queensland, has become a leading force in championing veteran and Defence family employment across New South Wales. At the centre of this success is Mark Bransdon, whose advocacy, visibility and commitment have made him a recognised and trusted voices in veteran employment.

Over the past three years, Mark has worked tirelessly to connect veterans, partners and employers, helping organisations understand the exceptional skills, leadership and resilience veterans bring to the workforce. Through consistent engagement with employers, government agencies, industry groups and the veteran community, he has built strong partnerships that create  sustainable employment pathways.

Mark's impact is demonstrated through tangible outcomes. In the first half of 2026 alone, the RSL Employment Program received 54 referrals, secured 30 employment outcomes and advertised 51 opportunities. Mark maintained a strong presence across the state, attending ADF Transition Seminars while also co-hosting an employment expo at the Riverina Veteran and Family Hub. These activities ensured veterans and Defence families had direct access to employment support, employer networks and career opportunities.

Mark has also strengthened strategic partnerships, including the highly successful collaboration with Veterans in Construction, which continues to generate outstanding employment outcomes across NSW. Across FY26, the program secured 43 jobs, including 21 veterans and 22 partners.

Beyond these results, Mark has become the recognised face of veteran employment advocacy across NSW and increasingly across the broader veteran employment sector. His lived experience and unwavering commitment to supporting veterans and their families have earned the trust of employers, service providers and participants alike. As the program enters its third year of delivery, Mark continues to champion new opportunities and drive lasting change, ensuring even greater employment outcomes for veterans and Defence families into the future.
