Veterans represent more than 90% of their workforce and 66% of the leadership team, ensuring military experience and culture are understood, respected and reflected across the employee journey. From veteran-informed recruitment and ADF-experienced interviewers to structured onboarding, career development and tailored support, veterans are welcomed into an environment where their service is recognised as a strength.
Milskil has delivered a range of initiatives to attract, support and retain veterans, including capability-based job advertising, veteran-reviewed recruitment materials, an Employee Referral Program, Roadshow Recruitment events, structured onboarding, military culture awareness training for non-veteran employees, an Employee Assistance Program, loyalty leave, tenure recognition, social connection activities and team development offsites. They also actively champion veteran employment through their website, careers materials, Defence-focused messaging and veteran success stories.
The impact of these initiatives is significant. Over the past three years, 70% of new hires have been sourced through veteran referrals, contributing to a veteran retention rate of 96% in 2026 (YTD) and an average employee tenure of 4.8 years. Through ongoing monitoring of recruitment, retention and engagement data, they continuously improve their approach to ensure veterans remain supported and connected.
