Daniel Stevens is a veteran entrepreneur and founder of Seitec, an Australian technology company pioneering solutions in defence and environmental safety. With a distinguished 20-year Royal Australian Air Force career, Daniel served as an Avionics Technician on F-111 and F/A-18F aircraft, progressing to Electronics Engineer and Design Engineer at Jericho.
In 2019, while working on Air Weapons Ranges, Daniel's electronics engineering expertise and fast jet maintenance background led him to invent UXOTrackS. Founded in September 2021, Seitec addresses critical unexploded ordnance (UXO) detection challenges using seismic sensor technology that detects and localises UXO in real-time.
Daniel's achievements include winning the Land Forces 2024 Emerging Technology Award, being named Defence Innovator of the Year at the 2025 Australian Defence Industry Awards (ADIA) and successfully completing the highly competitive Defence Trailblazer High Growth Incubation program in 2025. He now leads 12 employees developing seismic sensor technology for military and civilian applications, supported by his BEng (Electrical) Honours from UNSW.
Reflecting on his journey, Daniel describes himself as ‘a creator at heart’ whose ‘experience in Defence has given him invaluable life skills that directly translate into outcomes that are creating a great company.’ He noted that Seitec ‘extracted an exceptional amount of value’ from the Defence Trailblazer program to aid ‘investment and scaling.’
Beyond business success, Daniel supports emerging talent through UNSW Canberra internship programs. His ability to translate defence skills into commercial success while maintaining precision, integrity, and service values exemplifies Australia's veteran entrepreneurial spirit.
