Glen Powys transitioned from the Australian Defence Force in 1997, following 12 years of service as an Infantry Officer in the Australian Army. He joined Optus, working as a Field Services Manager. Just over a year later, Glen’s entrepreneurial instincts identified an opportunity to develop a more efficient method of recruiting, training and deploying a telecommunications field workforce. In late 1998 he left Optus to establish the company that is now known as tech2.
The leadership and planning skills that Glen had developed during his time in the military were crucial to the success of tech2, with the early success of the business attributed to building trust with, and motivating, a large group of field technicians. Within the first four months the business had already deployed over 200 technicians across Sydney and Melbourne, installing pay TV, telephony and broadband systems.
Since that time tech2 has progressively diversified and is now a leading technology services and support company, employing over 500 contractors and 300 employees across a national footprint. The ability to tailor diverse service solutions to client requirements and effectively mobilise a customer focused workforce, supported by tech2’s own proprietary, innovative software, sets tech2 apart from its competitors.
tech2 celebrates its 22nd year of operations in 2020.
