Family first, motivation for change
Jason joined the Army in 2015 to gain his qualification as a vehicle mechanic. He progressed through the ranks to then train a new generation of Army vehicle mechanics. Jason gained a wealth of experience from his overseas deployments and leadership roles.
Flexibility, family and a career
Carly joined the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) in 2001. She trained as a supply clerk and enjoyed a six-year career. Carly's husband also served in the RAAF. However, with two small children they decided that Carly needed a more flexible working environment.
More than a mechanic
Matt left the Army as a diesel mechanic to be closer to his family in Melbourne. He knew his qualifications as a diesel mechanic would be just one part of getting a job. To be competitive in the job market, Matt drew on his skills as a technician and his ability to train junior team members.
